Canales Ties for Third at Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – Junior Caroline Canales on the No. 4 UCLA women's golf team shot a tournament-low 4-under 68 in the final round at the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Wednesday, jumping eight spots into a tie for third.
The Bruins placed ninth as a team at 20-over (295-299-290) in their final regular-season tournament of 2023-24.
Northwestern and USC secured co-champion honors with team scores of 4-over 868.
Canales finished 3-under for the tournament with rounds scores of 71-74-68. The third-place result is Canales' best of the 2023-2024 season. The Calabasas, Calif. native holed five birdies in her final round, including three straight on holes 16-18.
Canales now owns four top-10 finishes and five top-20s this season.
Senior Kate Villegas tied for 27th at 5-over with round scores of 76-73-72. Sophomore Meghan Royal tied for 48th at 9-over with round scores of 77-75-73.
Jennifer Seo and Tiffany Le placed t-57th (+11) and t-71st (+15), respectively.

UCLA begins postseason competition at the final Pac-12 Championships at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. from April 21-23. The Bruins have won seven Pac-10/12 titles in their program's history (last in 2018).
