No. 23 Men's Tennis Blanks UC San Diego in Regular-Season Finale

LOS ANGELES โ The 23rd-ranked UCLA men's tennis team ended its regular season on a seven-match winning streak following Sunday's 4-0 result over UC San Diego at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Aadarsh Tripathi won twice to lead the Bruins (14-6, 5-2 Pac-12), capping his performance with a clinching decision. Spencer Johnson and Govind Nanda added singles victories of their own. The Tritons dropped to 9-17 (2-3) with one match to play in their regular season.
UCLA's doubles lineup featured two first-time tandems and both ultimately contributed to the day's first point. First to finish was the team of Tripathi and Timothy Li, which jumped out to a 4-0 advantage over William Lan and Daniel Traxler before prevailing 6-1 on Court 2. Then, on Court 3, Jeffrey Fradkin and Jorge Plans Gonzalez took the final five games to close out their clinching 6-2 win against Carson Lee and Diogo Tinoco.
No. 27 Govind Nanda put on a commanding first-set singles display, holding Lee off the scoreboard. With all six opening frames in their control, the Bruins added to their tally with Nanda's 6-0, 6-3 top-court victory.
No. 100 Johnson ran his personal winning streak to eight in as many decisions, handling Phillip Lan 6-3, 6-1 on Court 2. Johnson finished his regular season with team-best singles records of 23-6 overall and 14-3 in dual matches. He also registered a team-high 20 doubles wins (20-8).
Making his first appearance in the singles lineup since March 22, Tripathi took down Pelayo Rodriguez by a 6-3, 6-3 score. The deciding victory was Tripathi's first of 2024. He picked up one in 2023, as well.
The 2024 Pac-12 Championships start Wednesday, April 24 and continue through Saturday, April 27 at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif. UCLA will begin play Thursday, April 25. A full schedule of matches will be announced Sunday by the Pac-12.
