No. 14 Women's Tennis Blanks CSUN in Midweek Match

LOS ANGELES – The 14th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team dropped just one game across three completed singles matches in its 4-0 win against CSUN Wednesday at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Bianca Fernandez, Kimmi Hance and Tian Fangran collected the singles victories in order. The Bruins (12-4, 5-1 Pac-12) also claimed the doubles point to kick off their 10th victory in 11 tries. Fernandez and Tian posted two-win days. The Matadors fell to 10-3 (4-0 Big West) with the loss.
Playing together for the first time on Court 2, the freshman combination of Fernandez and Ahmani Guichard ran off two three-game streaks to beat Vitoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung 6-2. Then, with Courts 1 and 3 both nearing finishes, it was No. 43 Tian/Elise Wagle up top that clinched. The 6-3 result against Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna was completed with Hance and Mia Jovic holding two match points of their own on Court 3.
No. 80 Fernandez downed Santibañez Luna 6-0, 6-0 on Court 3 for the first point of singles play. No. 32 Hance, the defending Pac-12 Player of the Week who beat two top-40 players on UCLA's Northern California road trip, followed by besting Zhytelna 6-0, 6-1 on Court 2.
The sweep was completed on Court 1, where No. 31 Tian defeated Turchak 6-0, 6-0. The victory was Tian's 10th in as many decisions.
The Bruins return to Pac-12 play Friday when they visit Utah. First serve from George S. Eccles Tennis Center is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT.
