
Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at NCAA Stanford Regional

STANFORD, Calif. – The UCLA men's golf team finished with a seventh-place team finish at the NCAA Stanford Regional, hosted at Stanford Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Bruins did not qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships, as only the low five teams from the three-day regional competition advance.
Junior Omar Morales finished as the Bruins' top performer on Wednesday at Stanford, finishing 4-under 66. Junior Pablo Ereño shot even par in the third round. Through three days, Ereño shot 6-under and finished in a tie for eighth place (68-66-70).
Morales concluded the NCAA Stanford Regional having shot 4-under, tied for 14th place (69-71-66).
Sophomore Kyle An and freshman Luke Powell each shot 1-over 71 on Wednesday, while graduate student Mason Green fired a 3-over 73 to round out the action for UCLA.
Over the three-day regional, An shot 2-under and finished in a tie for 18th place.
In all, UCLA finished with three top-20 individual efforts – Ereño (tied, 8th place), Morales (tied, 14th place) and An (tied, 18th place).
The Bruins missed the cut to advance by five strokes, posting a team score of 5-under (277-280-278). SMU and Stanford tied for fourth place (10-under, 269-284-277) and Ole Miss finished in sixth place (9-under, 271-276-284).
Illinois took first place at the NCAA Stanford Regional, closing at 36-under (263-270-271), followed in order by second-place Florida State and third-place Texas A&M.
Looking at Wednesday's individual action, Morales finished with a team-leading six birdies and had two bogeys. The Bruins started the morning on the front nine holes, and Morales birdied the first, fourth and fifth holes to help UCLA stay within reach of the top five spots.
Ereño finished with four birdies and had four bogeys, firing an even par (70). Powell, who shot 1-over 71, had three birdies and four bogeys.
This week marked UCLA's first appearance at the NCAA regional round since the 2017-18 season.
