THE MATCHUP
The UCLA football team will play its first game in the state of Louisiana when it takes on No. 16-ranked LSU at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT. The second meeting between the Bruins (1-1, 0-1 Big Ten) and Tigers (2-1, 1-0 SEC) will be nationally televised on ABC. The UCLA Sports Network will broadcast the contest, which will also be aired over SiriusXM.

SERIES HISTORY
UCLA defeated LSU, 38-27, in the programs' first-ever gridiron showdown three seasons ago at Rose Bowl Stadium on Sept. 4, 2021. The Bruins out-gained the Tigers by more than a 4-1 margin on the ground (210-48), led by running back Zach Charbonnet who toted the ball for 117 yards and one touchdown. Brittain Brown added 96 yards and a rushing touchdown of his own. Senior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson needed just 16 attempts to net 260 yards passing and three touchdowns. Defensively, UCLA limited LSU to under 50 yards. With their lead sitting in single digits for most of the game, the Bruins scored the first two touchdowns of the fourth quarter to establish a game-high 18-point lead at 38-20.

It is a year of change for UCLA football, as head coach DeShaun Foster took the reins at his alma mater Feb. 12, 2024. A member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame for his prowess in the Bruin offensive backfield from 1998-2001, Foster spent seven seasons in the National Football League. He piled up more that 4,500 total yards and 16 touchdowns, including a 33-yard scoring dash in Super Bowl XXXVIII as a member of the Carolina Panthers. Foster spent the previous 11 seasons โ including 10 at UCLA โ in the collegiate coaching ranks before being promoted from associate head coach and running backs coach.

The Bruins dropped a 42-13 decision to Indiana in their Big Ten debut and home opener at the Rose Bowl last Saturday, Sept. 14. Quarterback Ethan Garbers completed 14 of 23 passes for 137 yards while running back T.J. Harden recorded 48 yards rushing on 12 carries, including his first touchdown of the season. Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke was effective, throwing for 307 yards and four touchdown passes. The Indiana rushing attack added two more scores on 123 yards.

UCLA officially joined the Big Ten Conference Aug. 2, ushering in a new era in the Bruins' storied and illustrious athletic tradition. UCLA, along with previous conference foes Oregon, USC and Washington, have moved to an 18-team Big Ten Conference with a footprint spanning from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

UCLA's approaching membership in the Big Ten Conference was initially announced more than two years ago, on June 30, 2022.

โข UCLA earned its third consecutive bowl invite, beating Boise State 35-22 in the Starco Brands LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk. The bowl win was UCLA's first since the 2015 Valero Alamo Bowl.
