
Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Southwestern Invitational

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The No. 10-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished 12th out of 14 teams at the three-day Southwestern Invitational on Wednesday.
Bruins' senior Pablo Ereño recorded a top-five finish for the third time during the 2024-25 season, tying with three other competitors in fifth place. Ereño finished the tournament at 3-under 210, carding scores of 71-73-66. He finished atop the leaderboard in round three on Wednesday, shooting 5-under 66.
In his best performance of the week, Ereño totaled six birdies and one bogey through 18 holes on Wednesday. He birdied the opening hole on Wednesday morning (hole 10), before registering birdies on holes 13, 14 and 15.
Senior Omar Morales shot even par 71 on Wednesday. Morales and freshman Baylor Larrabee finished 12-over 225 at the Southwestern Invitational. Larrabee posted a round three score of 6-over 77.
Rounding out the Bruins' competitors at the tournament, hosted at Sherwood Country Club, were junior Kyle An (15-over 228) and redshirt sophomore Matthew Yamin (16-over 229). An finished Wednesday's third round carding 3-over 74, equaling his score from Monday's first round.
UCLA will return to action late next week (Feb. 6-8), competing at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Kona, Hawai'i. The three-day tournament will take place at Mauna Lani Golf Course.
Day Two: Bruins Conclude Round Two at Southwestern Invitational
Bruins shot 10-over 294 on Tuesday, the second day of action in Thousand Oaks.
The UCLA men's golf team finished in 12th place out of 14 teams, through two rounds, on the second day of the three-day Southwestern Invitational on Tuesday. The annual event is being hosted by Pepperdine at Sherwood Country Club, nearly 40 miles from UCLA.
The Bruins shot 10-over 294 on Tuesday, one day after having finished 14-over 297.
Bruins' freshman Baylor Larrabee shot even par 71 on Tuesday in Thousand Oaks, Calif., recording UCLA's best individual score of the day. Larrabee shot 6-over 77 on Monday and has totaled a two-round score of 6-over 148.
UCLA senior Pablo Ereño finished the second day of action having carded 2-over 73, one day after he shot even par 71. Ereño is currently tied in 20th place through 36 holes.
Bruins' redshirt sophomore Matthew Yamin shot 3-over 74 in the second round, while senior Omar Morales finished 5-over 76. Junior Kyle An shot 9-over 80 to round out the Bruins' five competitors on Tuesday.
Larrabee opened with a birdie on the 10th hole on Tuesday, finishing the afternoon with four birdies, one bogey and one triple bogey. He registered consecutive birdies on the third and fourth holes.
The top three teams on the leaderboard heading into Wednesday's final round are UNLV (first), Texas (tied, second) and San Diego State (tied, second).
Day One: UCLA Opens Play at Southwestern Invitational
Bruins finish in 11th place after the opening round of action in Thousand Oaks.
The UCLA men's golf team finished in 11th place out of 14 teams in the opening round of the Southwestern Invitational on Monday, hosted at Sherwood Country Club nearly 40 miles from the Bruins' campus in Los Angeles.
As a team, UCLA shot 14-over 297, one stroke behind 10th place Duke and three strokes behind the two eighth-place teams (Florida and California). San Diego State finished the opening round sitting atop the leaderboard, having shot 8-under 276 on Monday.
UCLA senior Pablo Ereño shot even par (71), tied in 16th place on the first day.
Bruins' junior Kyle An shot 3-over 74, while redshirt sophomore Matthew Yamin finished at 4-over 75 through the first round. Rounding out the five golfers for UCLA on Monday included freshman Baylor Larrabee (6-over 77) and senior Omar Morales (7-over 78).
Monday's first round at Sherwood Country Club mark the Bruins' first competition in the spring season and their closest tournament in proximity to UCLA's campus (Pepperdine is serving as the host).
