Men's Golf Finishes in Sixth Place at Amer Ari Intercollegiate

WAIMEA, Hawai'i – The No. 13-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished in sixth place out of 20 teams at the three-day Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club on the island of Hawai'i.
 
As a team, the Bruins shot 47-under 817 at this year's tournament, finishing 17 strokes behind tournament champion Oklahoma State (64-under 800). UCLA set the program record for 54-hole score in relation to par (-47), eclipsing the score of -45 from last season's Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Hawai'i. The top five teams, in order, at this year's tournament included Oklahoma State, North Carolina, Texas, Auburn and Oregon.
 
"I'm really proud of the way the guys bounced back this week after a tough first tournament," UCLA head coach Armen Kirakossian said. "We had great energy and a relaxed way about us. It wasn't perfect, but golf never is. We can walk away from this week with confidence, shooting low scores and a program record -47. We're looking forward to our next event and seeing if we can build on this week."
 
Junior Kyle An had an impressive showing for the Bruins, posting a sixth-place finish at the three-day tournament. He shot 5-under 67 on Saturday, after having finished at 5-under 67 on Thursday and 6-under 66 on Friday. He finished the tournament having carded 16-under 200, five strokes behind the individual champion, Hampton Roberts of North Carolina (21-under 195).
 
Senior Omar Morales had the strongest performance on day three, shooting 6-under 66 in the final round. He concluded the weekend T-46, having shot 7-under 209.
 
Freshman Baylor Larrabee shot 5-under 67 on Saturday and finished the tournament with a score of 10-under 206 (T-28). Larrabee totaled six birdies and one bogey on Saturday.
 
Senior Pablo Ereño (T-46) shot 7-under 209 through the Amer Ari Intercollegiate (scores of 67-68-74). Freshman Trevor Garus (T-91) shot 2-over 218 with scores of 69-78-71.
 
UCLA will return to action at the Watersound Invitational in Florida from Feb. 17-19. The three-day tournament will take place in Panama City Beach, Fla..

The Bruins shot 14-under 274 on Friday, the second day of action at the three-day Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club on the island of Hawai'i.
 
Through the tournament's first round two rounds, UCLA rests in sixth place (out of 20 teams) with a team score of 30-under 546. The Bruins are one stroke behind fifth-place Arizona State (31-under 545) and five behind fourth-place Texas (35-under 541). Oklahoma State sits atop the team leaderboard through the first 36 holes, having carded a team score of 43-under 533.
 
For the second consecutive day, junior Kyle An posted the best individual score of any Bruin. He finished 6-under 66 on Friday, one day after shooting 5-under 67. Through the first two rounds, An has shot 11-under 133, currently tied for fifth place with Stanford's Ratchanon Chantananuwat.
 
Senior Pablo Ereño carded 4-under 68 on Friday after having shot 5-under 67 on Thursday afternoon. Currently in a tie for ninth place, Ereño has shot 9-under 135 through both days in Hawai'i.
 
Senior Omar Morales and freshman Baylor Larrabee each shot 2-under 70 on Friday, while freshman Trevor Garus finished at 6-over 78. Competing as an individual for UCLA, senior Andy Yoon shot even par (72) in the second round.
 
An has registered his best two 18-hole rounds of the season to date during the Bruins' competition on the Big Island (Hawai'i). His 6-under 66 on Friday marked a season best, eclipsing his performance on Thursday (at 5-under 67). An did not bogey on any hole, recording six birdies.
 
Ereño logged his 10th round under par during the Bruins' 2024-25 season on Friday, and his eighth round in the 60s. The Bruins' senior from Madrid, Spain, finished Friday's round with six birdies and two bogeys.
 
Larrabee (2-under 70) finished under par for the second consecutive day. He registered five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey. Morales finished Friday's action with six birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey.
 
UCLA will conclude its competition at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Saturday, Feb. 8. The teams are scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. HT (9:30 a.m. PT).

The Bruins finished in a tie for seventh place, among 20 teams, after the first round of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club on Thursday.
 
UCLA shot 16-under 272 on day one, along with Texas and Texas Tech. The Bruins were set to enter the second round on Friday, 10 strokes behind first-place Oklahoma State (26-under 262) and eight strokes behind second-place Arizona State (24-under 264). Sitting just above UCLA on the team leaderboard, tied for fifth place, are Pacific and Pepperdine (17-under 271).
 
Senior Pablo Ereño and junior Kyle An finished T-19 after the first round, having each shot 5-under 67. Ereño, An and freshmen Baylor Larrabee and Trevor Garus each recorded an eagle on par-5 holes on Thursday in Hawai'i. Ereño and Larrabee each had eagles on hole 15 (par 5), while Garus had an eagle on hole 2 (par 5) and An, on hole 7 (par 5).
 
Ereño finished the day with one eagle, five birdies and two bogeys. He concluded the opening round with an eagle and two birdies through his final seven holes.
 
An registered one eagle, four birdies and one bogey.
 
Larrabee and Garus each carded scores of 3-under 69, while senior Omar Morales finished at 1-over 73. Both Larrabee and Garus finished the opening round with one eagle, three birdies and two bogeys.
 
Senior Andy Yoon, competing as an individual, shot 2-under 70. He totaled five birdies and three bogeys.
