LOS ANGELES โ The No. 22 ranked UCLA swimming and diving squad is back in action for their final dual of the season this Friday, Jan. 31, as the Bruins head across town to take on the No. 14 Trojans for a noon dual at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. Friday's meet is UCLA's second Big Ten dual meet of the season.
UCLA's diving group will also take part in the springboard events on Friday and the platform diving event on Saturday at 10 a.m. PT.
This weekend also marks the final dual competition for the squad as UCLA will be set to get postseason meets underway at the upcoming 2025 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The meet will run from Wednesday, Feb. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 22.ย
Crosstown Cup:
The winner of the USC-UCLA dual meet scores 10 points toward the Crosstown Cup, awarded annually to the school with the most successful athletic year against the other. Points are awarded to the winner of each Trojan-Bruin head-to-head contest (100 points is the magic number).
The Season so Far:
UCLA has finished first in every competition it's entered so far this season except for two, winning the five-team Fresno State Invitational. The Bruins followed those strong results with a fourth-place finish at the Ohio State Invitational. The field featured three squads ranked in the top 15 at the time of the meet, plus UCLA.
After the Ohio State Invitational, the Bruins went to Las Vegas for the FINIS UNLV Invitational. At the meet the Bruins finished the 2024 portion of the calendar strongly, taking first place in the six-team field.
As for the dual meet calendar, UCLA beat Arizona, 189-106, on senior day at the Spieker Aquatics Center, and also took dual meet wins over UC Santa Barbara in Salt Lake city, Utah, and UC San Deigo in San Diego.
