
Bruins Finish Strong at USC Invitational

LOS ANGELES โ The No. 23 UCLA swimming and diving program opened the 2025-26 season at the USC Invitational on Friday and Saturday, competing against three ranked opponents in No. 9 USC, No. 12 Indiana and No. 25 Texas A&M.
Day 1 Recap
All four schools competing were ranked in the initial top 25 CSCAA coaches poll, with the Bruins earning multiple podium finishes on the first day of competition.
In the morning session on Friday, UCLA took part in the 400 medley relay, 500 free, 100 back, 200 IM, and 50 free, as well as the 3-meter diving competition to close out the morning slate.
UCLA's 400 medley 'A' relay team of Fay Lustria, Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan, and Gizem Guvenc started the session strongly, earning the Bruins a third-place finish in the event with a time of 3:34.52.
Later on during the morning session, Rosie Murphy earned UCLA's first individual podium of the day, placing second overall in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.19.
To close the morning session, Jada Duncan finished fourth overall in the 50 free, touching the wall in 22.43.
On the diving boards Bruins placed fourth and fifth in the 3m competition. Senior Eden Cheng finished in fourth place with a score of 284.25, while junior Molly Brascia took fifth with a points total of 267.85.
As for the afternoon session, UCLA's 200 free relay kicked things off with a third-place finish in the event. Duncan, Guvenc, Anna Wetteland, and Bennetts combined to touch the wall in 1:29.77
Individually, Rosie Murphy collected her second podium finish of the day, finishing second in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:10.91.
Jada Duncan also had an excellent swim in the 100 fly, finishing third in 52.72.
Bennetts continued her fantastic day with UCLA's first event win of the weekend, a first-place finish in the 100 breast. The junior touched the wall in 1:00.59 to take the win.
Day 2 Recap
The Bruins continued to perform strongly on day two of the invite, with multiple Bruins earning top-five finishes throughout.
UCLA opened the day with a third place showing in the 200 medley relay. The Bruin quartet of Fay Lustria, Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan, and Anna Wetteland combined to take third in 1:38.02.
Individually, the Bruins had strong showings in the 200 bac and 100 free. In the 200 back Rosie Murphy touched the wall in fourth with a time of 1:54.46. Freshman Jada Duncan took sixth in the 100 free in her first collegiate meet, finishing in 49.14.
Later on in the session, Sarah Bennetts finished fourth in the 200 breast in 2:13.41.
To close out the meet, the Bruins' 400 free relay finished fourth. The group of Gizem Guvenc, Anna Wetteland, Duncan and Murphy finished in 3:18.55.
On the diving boards Eden Cheng took fourth place in the 1m competition, with a total score of 271.05, while Molly Brascia finished seventh overall with a score of 236.85.
Up Next: The Bruins return to action on October 25, when UCLA takes on Northwestern and Michigan in a tri-meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 pm PT.

The Bruins continued to perform strongly on day two of the invite, with multiple Bruins earning top-five finishes throughout.
UCLA opened the day with a third place showing in the 200 medley relay. The Bruin quartet of Fay Lustria, Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan, and Anna Wetteland combined to take third in 1:38.02.
Individually, the Bruins had strong showings in the 200 bac and 100 free. In the 200 back Rosie Murphy touched the wall in fourth with a time of 1:54.46. Freshman Jada Duncan took sixth in the 100 free in her first collegiate meet, finishing in 49.14.
Later on in the session, Sarah Bennetts finished fourth in the 200 breast in 2:13.41.
To close out the meet, the Bruins' 400 free relay finished fourth. The group of Gizem Guvenc, Anna Wetteland, Duncan and Murphy finished in 3:18.55.
On the diving boards Eden Cheng took fourth place in the 1m competition, with a total score of 271.05, while Molly Brascia finished seventh overall with a score of 236.85.
