NO. 23 UCLA HEADS TO NO. 9 WISCONSIN, IOWA FOR TWO-MATCH ROAD TRIP
The No. 23-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team gears up for a two-match road trip, first traveling to No. 9 Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. (PT). Then the Bruins will head to Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. (PT) to complete the weekend. Friday's match will be nationally broadcast on Big Ten Network and Sunday's contest will be featured on B1G+.

  • UCLA is back in the AVCA Coaches Poll at No. 23
  • UCLA took down No. 14 Minnesota in straight sets on Wednesday night and swept No. 22 USC on Saturday afternoon

LAST TIME OUT
UCLA delivered back-to-back ranked sweeps with dominant performances against No. 14 Minnesota and No. 22 USC. In Minneapolis, the Bruins held Minnesota to a season-low .089 hitting percentage behind Cheridyn Leverette's 15 kills and Marianna Singletary's six blocks, while setter Kate Duffey and libero Lola Schumacher anchored the defense. Returning home to Pauley Pavilion, UCLA stifled USC with nine blocks and a balanced attack led by Leverette's 14 kills and Duffey's double-double of 30 assists and 11 digs. Freshman Eliana Urzua added 11 kills against the Trojans, and Singletary again led the net defense with six blocks, helping UCLA rally from early deficits and close both matches in straight sets.

DUFFEY DIMES
Kate Duffey garnered Big Ten Setter of the Week honors after orchestrating UCLA's offensive dominance by dishing out 66 assists in the team's back-to-back ranked sweeps. She went for 36 assists and nine digs in an excellent performance at No. 14 Minnesota and followed that up with her fourth double-double of the season, handing out 30 assists and snuffing out 11 digs against No. 22 USC. Defensively, she totaled five blocks and 20 digs. This is the first weekly honor of Duffey's career.

SPECTACULAR SINGLETARY
Marianna Singletary was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring UCLA's defense, averaging a formidable 2.00 blocks per set across the two-match stretch. She racked up 12 total blocks, including one solo, while adding 14 kills on an impressive .400 hitting percentage to round out a dominant all-around performance. This is Singletary's fourth career conference weekly honor. The Charleston, S.C. native won three consecutive SEC Defensive Player of the Week awards last season at Texas.

UCLA PICKED FIFTH
UCLA was picked to finish fifth out of 18 teams in the 2025 Big Ten Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll. In its first season as a Big Ten member, UCLA women's volleyball finished 14-15 overall and 8-12 in conference play. The Bruins recorded notable wins over No. 14 Georgia Tech, No. 24 Washington, and Ohio State, while pushing several ranked opponents to five sets, including reigning NCAA National Champion Penn State. Nebraska was picked as the conference favorite, followed by Penn State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The Cornhuskers posted a regular season record of 33-3 and finished atop the Big Ten standings with a 19-1 mark in conference play. Four Bruins earned spots on the 20-member Big Ten Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team, tying Nebraska for the most selections in the league. Outside hitters Cheridyn Leverette and Maggie Li joined middle blockers Marianna Singletary and Phekran Kong in receiving the preseason honors.
