Frias Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by La Victoria

October 22, 2025 | Football

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt-senior Anthony Frias II of UCLA Football has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week presented by La Victoria for athletic competitions held between Oct. 14-20.

The redshirt senior running back turned in the best performance of his career to lead UCLA to a 20-17 win over Maryland on Saturday, finishing with a career high in rushing yards (97, on just four carries) and total offense (130 yards) while authoring two of the biggest plays of the game for the Bruins. He got UCLA on the board with a 55-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter – UCLA's longest play of the year and the longest rush of Frias's career – and then broke free for a 35-yard rush on UCLA's penultimate play of the game to get the Bruins to the UMD 5-yard line and set up a short game-winning field goal opportunity with under five seconds remaining. The 55-yard rush marked his first-career touchdown, and that one play alone eclipsed his previous single-game career-high for rushing yards (43).

Frias II secures his first-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
