Bruins Fall to Trojans, 29-10
November 29, 2025 | Football
LOS ANGELES - UCLA completed its 2025 season with a 29-10 loss at No. 19 USC. The Bruins led 10-7 at the half but were outscored 22-0 in the second half.
Bruin quarterback Nico Iamaleava completed 27-38 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer totaled career-highs of 11 receptions and 95 yards with one touchdown, and running back Jalen Berger rushed for 57 yards on seven carries. Kanye Clark led all players with seven total tackles.
A two-yard touchdown pass from Iamaleava to Gilmer and a 38-yard field goal by Mateen Bhaghani gave the Bruins the advantage at the half. USC was in scoring position on each of its first three drives but scored just seven points after missing two field goals, including one that was blocked by Scott Taylor.
USC's opening drive culminated in a five-yard touchdown run by King Miller. The Trojans nearly scored again on their second possession, but Taylor blocked the field goal, and the Bruins went on a 13-play, 79-yard drive to tie on Gilmer's touchdown reception with 11:23 to go in the first half.
A missed 30-yard field goal by USC kept the score tied, and the Bruins drove 60 yards on the subsequent possession to take a 10-7 lead with 18 seconds to play in the half on a 38-yard Mateen Bhaghani field goal.
USC regained the lead, 14-10 with 25 seconds to go in the third quarter on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Maiava after the Bruins failed to score after getting to USC's 34. The Trojans forced the Bruins to punt on the next possession and used a 35-yard punt return to start their drive on their 43. On the first play of the drive, Key Lawrence intercepted Maiava, but the turnover was nullified due to a pair of penalties, and four plays later, Maiava threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Lake McRee to put USC ahead, 21-10.
Thanks in part to a 24-yard completion from Iamaleava to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala on 3rd and 21, the Bruins drove down to USC's 33, but a sack and a pair of penalties forced UCLA into a 4th and 15 situation at the USC 45. Iamaleava's pass to Gilmer was short of the first down, forcing a turnover on downs with 4:17 to play. USC took just four plays to score again, with Miller rushing for a 41-yard touchdown, and USC converting a two-point conversion with 2:29 to play.
The Bruins had one last chance to cut into the lead, quickly getting down to the USC 6, but on fourth and five, Iamaleava was sacked.
UCLA finishes the year 3-9, 3-6 in conference play. USC concludes the regular season with a 9-3 overall record, 6-3 in the Big Ten.
