Karoll Added to Ray Guy Award Watch List

AUGUSTA, Ga. โ Will Karoll of the UCLA football team was added Monday to the Ray Guy Award watch list, joining a group of candidates to be named the Football Bowl Subdivision's best punter. The newest winner will be named during ESPN's "The Home Depot College Football Awards," set to air Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. PT.
Karoll joined the Bruins as a transfer from Tulane prior to the current season. The junior from Mosman, Australia has been a consistent contributor through eight games, recording 27 punts for 1,180 yards (43.7 yards per kick). His net punting average sits at 40.3 yards per attempt. Eight have Karoll's punts have been placed inside the 20-yard line, while three have been pinned inside the 10.
In UCLA's 20-17 home win against Maryland (Oct. 18), Karoll punted seven times for 337 yards (48.1). He had showings of 61, 59 and 52 yards and twice forced the Terrapins to start drives inside their own 20-yard line. This past weekend, at Nebraska (Oct. 25), Karoll booted a ball 63 yards. He has registered five punts of more than 50 yards this season.

The Ray Guy Award - named for football's premier punter - honors the nation's best collegiate punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Augusta Sports Council created the award in 2000.
The Ray Guy Award winner is selected by a voting body of FBS sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics: net punting average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned.
