ORLANDO, Fla. โ€“ Mayu Crossley of the UCLA women's tennis team had her first collegiate fall campaign ended Tuesday in the first round of singles play at the 2025 NCAA Division I Singles and Doubles Championships. The freshman earned her spot in the draw after reaching the ITA West Sectional Championships singles semifinals.

Crossley, ranked No. 81 nationally, was defeated by No. 113 Berta Passola Folch of California in a 6-1, 6-1 decision at the USTA National Campus. Passola Folch's victory earned her a second-round date with Texas A&M's Mia Kupres, who defeated No. 9-16 seed Tatum Evans of North Carolina.

Crossley wrapped up her fall with a 3-5 singles record. During her time at ITA West Sectionals in Seattle, Crossley defeated the 109th-ranked Charlotte Keitel of San Diego before knocking off Shachf Lieberman of UC Santa Barbara and Tilde Jagare of Oregon. Crossley also teamed with Bianca Fernandez to collect three doubles wins. For her performance at ITA West Sectionals, Crossley was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Nov. 12.

A native of Tokyo, Crossley attended Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton, Fla. She holds a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 5 and has competed at three of the four junior Grand Slams.
