Jovanovic to Serve as Serbian National Team Assistant Coach

LOS ANGELES โ€“ UCLA assistant coach Nemanja "Yogi" Jovanovic has been selected to serve as an assistant coach with the Serbian Men's Basketball National Team in FIBA competition over the next three seasons.

Jovanovic, now in his third year as an assistant coach and the Director of International Recruiting with UCLA, will be coaching for Serbia through an upcoming FIBA basketball window. Upcoming games for the Serbian National Team include the 2027 European Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Jovanovic will continue to serve as an assistant coach for UCLA while handling his duties for the Serbian National Team.

The three-year FIBA window in which Jovanovic will be working with the Serbian basketball program also includes the 2027 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, set to take place in Los Angeles.

Later this month, Serbia will be competing against Switzerland (Nov. 27) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (Nov. 30). The contest against Switzerland will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, while the game against Bosnia & Herzegovina will be in Sarajevo (the capital city of Bosnia & Herzegovina). Additional qualifying games will take place in late February of 2026 and in July of 2026.

Jovanovic will be reunited with former UCLA guard Lazar Stefanovic, who is among 24 athletes invited to the Serbian basketball team trials. Stefanovic spent the past two seasons in UCLA's program, having averaged 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in 67 contests with the Bruins.
