No. 12 Men's Golf Prepares for Watersound Invitational
February 16, 2025 | Men's Golf
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The No. 12-ranked UCLA men's golf team will compete this week at the Watersound Invitational, which will run from Monday, Feb. 17, through Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Sharks Tooth Golf Course in Panama City Beach, Florida.
UCLA is among 12 teams that will be competing at the three-day Watersound Invitational, a 54-hole stroke play tournament that will feature one 18-hole round per day (par 72).
Six of the tournament's competitors are currently ranked among the top 25 in the men's golf "Scoreboard" rankings. In addition to No. 12-ranked UCLA, those other five ranked opponents include (11) Vanderbilt, (14) Georgia Tech, (18) Mississippi State, (24) Alabama and (25) Notre Dame. Also competing this week will be host Florida State, Clemson, Kentucky, Michigan State, Navy and N.C. State.
Monday's start in Florida comes less than two weeks after the Bruins finished in sixth place, out of 20 teams, at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate, hosted in Hawai'i at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club. The Bruins shot 47-under 817 at the tournament in Hawai'i, finishing 17 strokes behind tournament champion Oklahoma State (64-under 800). UCLA set the program record for 54-hole score in relation to par (-47), eclipsing last year's total of -45 at the 2024 Amer Ari Intercollegiate.
UCLA's lineup this week will include two seniors (Pablo Ereño, Omar Morales), one junior (Kyle An) and two freshmen (Trevor Garus, Baylor Larrabee). Redshirt senior Andy Yoon will be competing as an individual. Each of those golfers were also in action earlier this month with UCLA at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate.
This marks the Bruins' third competition in the 2025 calendar year after UCLA had a strong fall season with four competitions in September and October of 2024.
