Women’s Golf Falls to USC in Battle for the Bell, 3.5-1.5

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The UCLA women's golf team fell to crosstown rival and No. 5-ranked UCLA, 3.5-1.5, in the third annual Battle for the Bell at Palos Verdes Golf Club on Monday.
The rivalry event consisted of five singles matches between Los Angeles' two Big Ten squads. Freshman Francesca Fiorellini won the Bruins' only match, defeating Xin (Cindy) Kou, 3&2. Freshman Angela Liu contributed to UCLA's other 0.5 point by halving her match with Jasmine Koo.
UCLA and USC also met in a match play format earlier this season at the East Lake Cup, which resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Trojans.

Battle for the Bell Scoring System
Each match victory is worth one point. If the match is tied after 18 holes of play, the point will be halved. The team with the most points after the one round of play will be the winner. If there is a tie in points, the winner will be determined by the total number of holes won on the day.

UCLA plays its final regular season tournament later this month at the PING/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz. from March 28-30.
