Men's Tennis Blanks Northwestern for Fourth Consecutive Win

EVANSTON, Ill. โ The UCLA men's tennis team earned its fourth win in a row Sunday, blanking Northwestern 4-0 at Combe Tennis Center. It also represented a sweep of the Bruins' first Big Ten Conference road trip. They previously beat No. 23 Illinois by a 4-1 score Friday.
Giacomo Revelli, Emon van Loben Sels and clincher Aadarsh Tripathi each won in straight sets for UCLA (6-6, 4-0 in Big Ten play). The team's winning streak corresponds with the start of conference play. The Bruins captured the doubles point in thrilling fashion, as their top-court duo had to overcome a 0-4 deficit in the deciding match. The Wildcats fell to 10-10 (3-3) with the loss.
The doubles tandem of van Loben Sels and Gianluca Ballotta secured its third victory in as many contests, beating Max Bengtsson and Vincent Yang 6-2 on Court 3. The UCLA pair has not dropped more than two games in any of its consecutive wins. Tripathi and Quan dug themselves out a 0-4 hole of their own to force a tiebreaker with Chad Miller and Felix Nordby, but were ultimately felled in a 7-6(4) result on Court 2.
Revelli and Alexander Hoogmartens were able to complete their comeback on the top court, however, taking seven of the final eight games opposite Grayson Casey and Saiprakash Goli to prevail 7-5 on Court 1. The top-court Bruins have now clinched two doubles points in its three completed matches.
Five singles first sets went the way of UCLA. Revelli finished off his perfect day first on Court 6. He defeated Yang 6-3, 6-4 to kick off the run of victories.
Next to finish was No. 75 van Loben Sels, who turned in his first-ever Court 2 singles win. The 6-2, 6-4 decision came over Nordby and put the Bruins on the brink of victory. The UCLA redshirt sophomore has won five straight singles matches without surrendering a set.
No. 120 Tripathi ran his personal singles winning streak to three, beating Bengtsson 6-2, 7-5. The win marked Tripathi's first of the campaign on Court 4 and second clincher of 2025.

The Bruins return home next for matches against Oregon and Washington. Oregon visits Los Angeles Tennis Center Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m. PT and Washington stops in the next day for another 12 p.m. PT start.
