March 09, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA men's tennis team earned its second 7-0 win in as many Big Ten Conference matches Sunday, sweeping Purdue at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The Bruins (4-6, 2-0 in Big Ten play) dropped just one set, which was later recovered in a 10-point tiebreaker. Gianluca Ballotta, Alexander Hoogmartens, Giacomo Revelli and Emon van Loben Sels all had two-win days, with Revelli clinching the overall decision. Purdue dropped to 8-3 overall and 0-2 in conference competition.
Paired together for the first time since fall tournament play, Ballotta and van Loben Sels jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Maj Premzl and Henrik Villanger on Court 3. The Bruins would go on to win 6-1. On the top court, Hoogmartens and Revelli broke the serves of Aleksa Krivokapic and Juan David Velasquez for the first and last games of a 6-3 clinching victory. The dual-match win represented the first as a tandem for the UCLA seniors who won the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship on March 2.
