Grant Repeats as UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ Junior Megan Grant of UCLA Softball has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held between April 8-14.

The utility player posted a .667 batting average (6-for-9), five home runs, 11 runs batted in, six runs scored, 21 total bases, a 2.333 slugging percentage and 3.083 OPS to lead the Bruins to a 4-0 week.

Grant homered in each of UCLA's four games, and in a remarkable display of power, had five of her team-leading six hits leave the yard. The slugger hit grand slams in back-to-back games against Cal Baptist and game one against the Huskies, marking her third GS in a four-game stretch dating back to the Ohio State series. In game one of UCLA's sweep over Washington, Grant logged the fourth multi-homer performance of her career and third of the season. Her first bomb was a go-ahead grand slam in the first inning of a 7-4 victory. In the game two win, Grant went 2-for-2 with a solo homer in the first inning. After being intentionally walked in her first at-bat of game three, Grant deposited another solo homer over the right-center fence in the third inning to give UCLA a 2-1 lead.

Also of note, Grant's two homers in game one against Washington pushed her total to 20 through 42 games played, tying her with Stacey Nuveman (1999) as the fastest Bruin to reach 20 home runs in a single season. Nuveman later set the program single-season record in home runs with 31. Grant took over as the NCAA leader in home runs (22) and RBIs (68) after her dominant week. Her 22 home runs are currently tied for fourth most in UCLA single-season history and the most by a Bruin since 2013.
