Women’s Golf Signs Transfer Jenny Lee
June 30, 2025 | Women's Golf
LOS ANGELES – UCLA women's golf head coach Alicia Um Holmes announced the signing of transfer Jeonghyun "Jenny" Lee from Baylor University to the Bruins' roster on Monday. Lee will compete as a sophomore for the Bruins in the 2025-26 season.
"Jenny is a decorated young golfer with tremendous potential and we are elated to have her join our Bruin golf family," Um Holmes said. "At only 18 years old, she's already played in a U.S. Women's Open, Augusta National Women's Amateurs and has attained a career-best rank of 28th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She made history as a 12-year-old, winning individual and team gold at The Spirit Invitational representing Team Korea. But more so than her accolades, I am most impressed with the person she is. She's thoughtful, kind, hardworking and someone that will be a difference maker in our team's culture. I'd like to thank her parents, Suyim and Kihi, for raising a wonderful human being and trusting us to help Jenny during her college years."
Lee competed in six NCAA Division I tournaments and made four starts in her freshman season at Baylor, posting a 75.53 scoring average over 15 rounds. Lee's top result came at the PDI Intercollegiate at Eagle Creek Golf Club where she finished -2, 214 with round scores of 70-73-71 to tie for 36th in a field of 96. She also competed in UCLA and Pepperdine's co-hosted event, the Bruin Wave Invitational, and placed T-35th at +15, 233.
Lee, from Seoul, South Korea, was one of the most accomplished amateur golfers in her home country with 51 worldwide junior wins prior to signing at Baylor. As a 12-year-old in 2019, Lee clinched the individual and team medals for South Korea in the Women's Individual Championship at the Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club as the youngest competitor in the 76-player field.
Lee enjoyed a spectacular 2022 campaign. In March, she made her debut at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur where she finished four strokes back of the cut line. Three months later, she became the second 15-year-old to qualify for the 2022 U.S. Women's Open field. She earned her first U.S. Women's Open berth by shooting 139 to garner the second and final spot at Dream Park Country Club (Dream Course) in the Republic of Korea. Lee also claimed victory at the 33rd Seoul Association President's Golf Cup. She competed in one of junior golf's most coveted events, the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, twice in 2022 and 2023.
Lee has competed in six professional tournaments. She finished as the low amateur in several other pro events on the Korean LPGA Tour: Brian Green Property Group NZ Super 6's Manawatu, Hana Financial Group Championship and Nexen Saintnine Masters.
Other amateur victories for Lee include the Korean Women's Amateur KangMinKoo Cup and New Zealand Stroke Play Championship in 2020.
Lee relocated from the Republic of Korea to New Zealand at age eight to continue her golf career.
