No. 14 Women’s Golf in Fifth After Day One of PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX – The No. 14 UCLA women's golf team sits in fifth place after opening with a 3-under 285 at the PING/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course on Monday.
The Bruins were one of five teams to finish under par in the first round. No. 2 USC holds an eight-stroke lead over Baylor at 17-under. USC freshman Jasmine Koo leads the individual standings at 6-under 66, one shot clear of the field.
Junior Jennifer Seo paced UCLA with a career-low 5-under 67 and is tied for second place entering Tuesday's second round.
The round marked Seo's fourth under-par score of the season and her second round in the 60s. She opened at 2-over through three holes before playing the rest of the round bogey-free with seven birdies.
Sophomore Jen Lee also finished in the top 10, carding a 2-under 70.
Freshman Kacey Ly and senior Meghan Royal are tied for 37th at 2-over 74.
UCLA begins second-round play Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT.
