July 29, 2025 | Men's Golf
UCLA senior men's golfer Pablo Ereño has earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar acclaim for the third consecutive season. Ereño, the 2024-25 Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Year, was named an Academic All-America® Men's At-Large first-team honoree once the Bruins' spring season ended.
In order to be eligible for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior and have participated in at least half of their team's competition rounds (with a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I) and have maintained a cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2 or better. Recipients should be of high moral character and in good standing at their college or university. This year's academic award honored 556 NCAA Division I athletes from across 190 schools.
Ereño, who earned his degree from UCLA in mathematics/economics, has now been recognized for three consecutive years with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar award in addition to being an Academic All-District Team selection (as selected by the College Sports Communicators, CSC). At the conclusion of UCLA's spring season, Ereño earned third-team Division I All-America acclaim by Golfweek and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Ereño is a two-time Academic All-America honoree, having become UCLA's first men's golf student-athlete to earn first-team distinction earlier this month. In addition to securing third-team Academic All-America honors last season, Patrick Cantlay was a second-team Academic All-America recipient in 2011-12.
Ereño concluded his collegiate career in the No. 3 spot on UCLA's all-time list in scoring average (71.32) and No. 1 for most career rounds under par (73). In addition, he ranked No. 2 on the Bruins' career list for most rounds in the 60s (45) and tied for No. 5 with 16 top-10 finishes.
Ereño concluded UCLA's 2024-25 season with a sixth-place finish through stroke play at the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Ereño shot 5-under 283 through four rounds, becoming UCLA's first top-10 individual finisher since Lorens Chan in 2014. In addition, he was named the Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Year after the Bruins won the team title at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. He closed his senior season with a team-leading 70.23 scoring average, the second-best season mark in program history.
Ereño won the individual medal, marking his first career medal, at The Tindall in Sept. 2024. In the two-day tournament, Ereño opened his senior season with a score of 11-under 202 (66-70-66) in Sammamish, Wash.
