UCLA WRAPS UP NONCONFERENCE PLAY AT STANFORD TOURNAMENT
The UCLA women's volleyball team looks to extend its winning streak during the three-match tournament hosted by Stanford. The Bruins will take on Texas State for the first contest on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. (PT). UCLA will face off against Hawaii on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. (PT) before wrapping up the weekend with a contest against the hosts, No. 4 Stanford, on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. (PT).

LAST TIME OUT
UCLA delivered a dominant showing at the Sun City Classic, sweeping UTEP, Oral Roberts, and Texas Southern in straight sets to improve to 4-3 on the season. The Bruins hit a combined .336 across the three matches while holding opponents to a collective .064, including a staggering -.094 against Texas Southern. Cheridyn Leverette led the offensive charge with 34 kills across the weekend, while Marianna Singletary anchored the middle with 24 kills and 16 blocks. Setter Kate Duffey orchestrated the attack with 97 assists and earned her first career double-double. Carly Hendrickson added consistent firepower and defensive presence, tallying 25 kills, 10 blocks, and seven aces. Libero Kat Lutz posted double-digit digs in all three matches, including a weekend-high 17 against Texas Southern. UCLA's serving pressure and net defense fueled nine consecutive set wins, marking a complete turnaround and setting the tone for its upcoming tournament at Stanford.

Texas State enters the weekend with a 4-4 overall record. Last week, the Bobcats won one of their three matches, taking down Incarnate Word in straight sets. In its first game of the weekend, Texas State took No. 9 Arizona State to five sets. The Bobcats reached the 2024 NCAA Tournament after posting a 22-9 record and sweeping through the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. This was the program's first conference title and second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. In five seasons at the helm of the program, Head Coach Sean Huiet has accumulated a 121-51 overall record and 68-12 mark in Sun Belt Conference matches.

Hawaii brings a 4-4 overall record into the weekend after emerging victorious in four straight contests. The Rainbow Wahine coming to the 2025 campaign as the Big West favorites after finishing second in the regular season standings and claiming a Big West Conference Tournament championship a season ago. Head Coach Robyn Ah Mow is in her eighth season at the helm, achieving 20 or more wins in six of her seven seasons in charge, including five straight conference titles. Hawaii has consistently been on the national stage under Ah Mow's tenure, reaching the NCAA Tournament seven times since she ascended to her role in 2017.

ABOUT THE CARDINAL
No. 4 Stanford comes into the weekend as one of the nation's top teams after reaching an NCAA Regional Final in 2024. The Cardinal boast a 6-2 record in the early stages of 2025, but the losses have come at the hands of No. 1 Nebraska (Aug. 24) and No. 2 Texas (Sept. 7). Stanford is now winners of three straight contests, taking down No. 23 Missouri, Utah State, and UC Davis last week. In eight seasons under Kevin Hambly, Stanford is 102-12 at Maples Pavilion, including 20-2 in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal won 32 in a row at home to begin Hambly's tenure at Stanford. In its first season as a Big Ten member, UCLA women's volleyball finished 14-15 overall and 8-12 in conference play. The Bruins recorded notable wins over No. 14 Georgia Tech, No. 24 Washington, and Ohio State, while pushing several ranked opponents to five sets, including reigning NCAA National Champion Penn State. Nebraska was picked as the conference favorite, followed by Penn State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The Cornhuskers posted a regular season record of 33-3 and finished atop the Big Ten standings with a 19-1 mark in conference play. Four Bruins earned spots on the 20-member Big Ten Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team, tying Nebraska for the most selections in the league. Outside hitters Cheridyn Leverette and Maggie Li joined middle blockers Marianna Singletary and Phekran Kong in receiving the preseason honors.
