The AUSL has transitioned to a city-based model for the 2026 season, adding two expansion franchises to bring the league total to six teams. Those newly-added teams are the Portland Cascade and Oklahoma City Spark.
On April 18, UCLA seniors Megan Grant, Taylor Tinsley and Jordan Woolery were each awarded AUSL Golden Tickets at Easton Stadium after the Bruins' double-header sweep of California. UCLA's three Golden Ticket recipients are the most the league has ever awarded at one time, and signified the three players' guaranteed selections in the AUSL Draft.
Grant was the first hitter taken in the 2026 AUSL College Draft on May 4, going fourth overall to the Cascade. Fellow slugger Woolery was also selected in the first round, going sixth overall to the Talons. Tinsley was picked by the Talons in the second round with the No. 12 overall pick.
Five UCLA players will suit up for Talons general manager Lisa Fernandez, who seeks to defend her inaugural AUSL title won last July. Another longtime UCLA assistant coach Kirk Walker embarks on his first year as a general manager for the Spark.
Two more individuals with UCLA ties are in the AUSL coaching ranks. Current UCLA director of player development and data analytics begins his second year as an assistant coach for the Talons. Tairia (Mims) Flowers, a former All-America infielder for UCLA, is the head coach for the Cascade's ballclub.
