Dick Linthicum

A basketball star in the early 1930s, forward Dick Linthicum was UCLA's first All-America in any sport. He shared All-America honors in 1932 with future UCLA coach John Wooden, then a player at Purdue. After eight years in the movie industry following graduation, Linthicum served 10 years in the U.S. Navy throughout the Pacific. He followed that with a 16-year career in the Central Intelligence Agency. Linthicum was awarded the CIA Certificate of Merit when he ended a distinguished career of serving his country in many parts of the world.
Linthicum, who died at 70 in 1979, was inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.
