UCLA Duos in Sweet 16 at NCAA Men's Tennis Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - In the second day of competition of the NCAA Individual Championships being played at the University of Georgia in Athens, UCLA's doubles teams of Jean-Noel Grinda (Nice, France) and Jong-Min Lee (Seoul, Korea) and Jason Cook (Woodland Hills, CA) and Brandon Kramer (Reno, NV) both advanced to the round of 16.

The duo of Grinda and Lee, seeded third in the tournament, defeated Greg Skorin and Nenad Zivkovic of UNLV 6-3, 6-3. Currently ranked sixth in the nation, Grinda and Lee improve their doubles record to 25-9. They advance to play Stanford's K.J. Hippensteel and Ryan Wolters on Friday, May 28. Grinda and Lee have not met Hippensteel and Wolters twice this season, coming away with 9-8(5) and 9-7 victories.

UCLA's tandem of Cook and Kramer, seeded 5-8, also advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Virginia's Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly. With the win, the No. 7 team of Cook and Kramer improve to 30-11 on the season. they advance to play cross-town and Pac-10 rival USC's Patrick Gottesleben and Roman Kukal tomorrow. The two teams have met twice this year, with Cook and Kramer winning 8-6 on February 12 and Gottesleben and Kukal winning on March 3.
