
No. 14 UCLA Rolls Over Loyola Marymount, 8-1

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The 14th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team didn't drop a set in six singles matches Thursday, en route to an 8-1 victory over visiting Loyola Marymount at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the victory, UCLA improves to 5-2 on the season, while LMU drops to 3-3.
Bruin freshman Sara Walker improved to 21-4 on the season after registering a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Edit Pakay at No. 1 singles. Earlier in the week, Walker moved up from No. 46 to No. 16 in the current WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
The Bruins were paced by sophomore Catherine Hawley, who defeated Velana Kassab 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. It was Hawley's first match back since being sidelined with an injury on Jan. 15.
The Lions won their only point at No. 1 doubles, where UCLA's Amanda Basica and Walker were forced to default due to injury.
The Bruins return to action tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 25, when they host UC Irvine at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
