In his first NCAA Cross Country Championship meet, junior Erik Emilsson placed 98th in 30:52.7. Emilsson was an automatic individual qualifier. Colorado's Dathan Ritzenhein won the individual title, completing the 10K course in 29:14.1. Stanford won the team title for the second consecutive year, scoring 24 points.
