
UCLA defeats UCSD in Three Games

The top-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team won its fifth straight match by defeating 15th ranked UC San Diego on the road Wednesday night.
The Bruins won 30-27, 30-22, 30-27 in 90 minutes at RIMAC Arena. The victory raised the Bruins' overall record to 17-3, 11-3 in league play. the Tritons fell to 6-14, 2-12.
Three UCLA players recorded double-digit kills against UCSD. Senior Chris Pena led the Bruins with 13 kills (.522) and added four block assists. Freshman Steve Klosterman spiked 11 kills (.474) and senior Paul Johnson added 10 kills (.750) and four block assists. Senior libero Adam Shrader and sophomore setter each recorded seven digs to lead the team.
The Bruins out-blocked the Tritons, 8.0-5.5 and hit .354 as a team.
Jim Waller led UCSD with 12 kills.
UCLA travels to Long Beach State Fri., Mar. 12 for a 7:30 p.m. showdown at The Pyramid.
