The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated its Alumni team 3-1 Sunday in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruin varsity team won 30-21, 30-26, 30-32, 30-24 in two hours before 236 fans.
Senior Damien Scott led the Bruins with 13 kills (.417) and 14.5 points in three games of action. Freshman Sean O'Malley and Paul George added 10 kills each. O'Malley hit for a percentage of .533 and George hit at a .471 clip. Both players recorded two block assists and an ace apiece.
As a team the Bruins hit .397 as senior setter Dennis Gonzalez recorded 45 assists. He also added an ace and five block assists. In one game of action freshman Matt Wade recorded 15 assists and two kills (.667). Sophomore Libero Tony Ker led both teams with 10 digs.
Former All-American Matt Komer led the Alumni with 22 kills (.326), eight digs and three total blocks. Former NCAA All-Tournament Team selection Seth Burnham added nine kills and setter Court Young recorded seven kills (.545), 41 assists, two block assists and an ace.
On Fri., Nov. 4, UCLA hosts USC at 5 p.m. On Sat., Nov. 5, UCLA hosts UCSB at 10 a.m. and CS Northridge at 3 p.m. In other matches, UCSB plays CS Northridge at 5 p.m. on Nov. 4. On Nov. 5, USC meets CS Northridge at 10 a.m. and UCSB plays USC at 3 p.m. All matches will be played in the Men's Gym and admission is free.
