
UCLA Falls in Four to BYU

The sixth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team fell in four games to No.2 BYU on Thursday in Pauley Pavilion.
BYU won 24-30, 30-26, 30-14, 30-24 in two hours in front of 745 fans. The Bruins fell to 4-4 overall, 0-2 in league play. The Cougars improved to 7-0, 5-0 in their first road match of the season.
Junior Paul George and senior Nick Scheftic led the Bruins with 11 kills apiece. Scheftic added an ace and one block assist, George recorded eight digs and one solo block. Senior Damien Scott pounded 10 kills and scored 10.5 points.
Sophomore Ivan Perez slammed a match-high 21 kills (.500), followed by 12 kills (.474) from Taylor Evans and 11 from Russell Holmes. All-American Victor Batista added nine kills, four aces and four block assists. Three of his aces came in Game 3 when he served six straight points to break the game open.
The two teams will meet on Sat., Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
