
UCLA Defeats Lewis in Three Games

Ninth-ranked UCLA defeated visiting Lewis University Wednesday night in a non-league men's volleyball contest at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins won 30-22, 30-25, 30-18 in 77 minutes before 242 fans. The victory, UCLA's second straight, raised the Bruins' overall record to 12-9. Lewis fell to 5-10.
Senior Nick Scheftic had the hot hand for the Bruins Wednesday, hammering a career-high 19 kills (.630) and adding four total blocks for 21.5 points, another career-high. Junior Paul George added nine kills (.429), a career-high four aces and two block assists for 14 points. Freshman Ian Jackson came off the bench to add six kills (.455). Sophomore Eric Chaghouri recorded 12 digs and freshman Matt Wade distributed 47 assists.
Freshman Drew Pickering led the Flyers with 14 kills and David Kelhofer added seven.
The Bruins will travel Thursday to Hawaii for a key MPSF series against the fourth-ranked Warriors beginning Fri., Mar. 10. The two teams also meet Sat., Mar. 11. First serve for both matches is scheduled for 7 p.m. HST.
