UCLA vs. Arizona

UCLA Head Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez
Opening statement:
"It's a great feeling. It's all about the first game. We had said as a group, I told the girls, `Would you sacrifice being three-for-three and scrap out a W in the College World Series?' and everyone of them said absolutely. That was our plan, do whatever it takes to get on the board early and often. I think we did a wonderful job. It is always great to be able to follow the lead of a very focused (Anjelica) Selden tonight."
On the team's early errors: "It's part of the game. You come out aggressive. Both sides were tested. I don't believe the wait (for Alabama-Arizona State game to finish) is what caused the errors."
On UCLA's continued success against Arizona pitcher Taryne Mowatt: "The Pac-10 is such a great conference. There are different styles of play and strengths. We all know that playing in the Pac-10 prepares us for postseason. The good part is that we get to play great competition. The bad part is we see each other a lot. We have a lot of notes, we've been able to see a lot of pitches. We come in with a game plan and we are able to feel each other right off that bat. I give credit to the girls. They just straight up played, no matter who was on the mound."
UCLA Senior Pitcher Anjelica Selden
On her track record of success against Arizona:
"There is no secret, you just have to go in there and have a plan against every hitter. They are going to make adjustments and you have to be aware of that. My catcher Jen (Schroeder) was calling a good game."
UCLA Freshman Outfielder Katie Schroeder
On if there's pressure being a freshman playing in the WCWS:
"There's no pressure because there are a lot of freshmen playing out there. I think we have all lived up to our standards."
