Shannon Murakami and Jake Matthews led the men's and women's cross country teams on Saturday at the Pac-10 Championships as the men were fourth overall and the women placed sixth. Stanford won both the team titles.

Matthews finished 16th overall in a time of 23:57.81 as he took his spot as the No. 1 Bruin finisher for the first time in his career. Freshman Nohe Lema was the No. 2 finisher as he was 17th in a time of 23:58.82. Junior Kent Morikawa was the No. 3 runner as he was 18th (24:01.29), rounding out the Bruins sweep of 16th-18th place.

Junior Spencer Knight was the No. 4 finisher in 21st-place (24:05.12), while freshman Pablo Rosales was the fifth scorer, finishing 31st in a time of 24:20.41.

The men improved on their 2009 team finish where they placed fifth overall, moving up to fourth this season despite being without their No. 1 runner, Dylan Knight, who is still out after suffering a gastrointestinal infection during the Pre-National Invite.

On the women's side, the Bruins again showed improvement, going from seventh in 2009 to sixth this year. Murakami continued her streak as the No. 1 runner for the ladies as she finished 17th in a time of 20:32.40. Freshman Sierra Vega was again the No. 2 finisher as she placed 20th in a time of 20:37.96.

Frosh Melissa Skiba was the No. 3 runner, finishing 31st in a time of 20:55.88. Senior Kelcie Wiemann was the fourth finisher in a time of 21:34.34 (45th) and freshman Amber Murakami was 59th (21:45.90) as the Bruins' final scorer.

The Bruins will next head to Springfield, OR for the NCAA West Regional on November 13th where spots for the NCAA Championships will be on the line.
