
Women's Tennis Team Downs LMU, 7-0

LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team swept doubles play and then won all six singles matches in straight sets to defeat Loyola Marymount, 7-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Bruins improve to 8-1 overall, while LMU drops to 1-4.
Bruin players Maya Johansson and Pamela Montez each posted wins to extend their winning streaks. Johansson downed Melissa Valenzuela, 6-3, 6-3 at court No. 4, and Montez beat Elisaveta Pironkova, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. Both Johansson and Montez have six-match winning streaks.
It was also business as usual for fifth-ranked Yasmin Schnack at court No. 1, as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jasmin Heckel. Schnack also teamed with Andrea Remynse in doubles to defeat Heckel and Bliss Nixon, 8-0 at the top spot. Remynse and Schnack are ranked No. 11 in the country according to the new ITA Rankings released on Thursday.
Next up for UCLA is a Sunday match with Cal Poly at the LATC beginning at Noon.
