
No. 18 UCLA Football Falls to No. 12 Oregon, 42-30

UCLA's offense accounted for 553 total yards, with running back Paul Perkins leading the way. Perkins had a career-high 190 rushing yards on 22 carries for the Bruins (4-2, 1-2 Pac-12).
Quarterback Brett Hundley accounted for four UCLA touchdowns (three passing, one rushing), totaling 216 passing yards and 89 yards on the ground. Hundley completed 26 of 37 pass attempts and had one pass intercepted.
Oregon (5-1, 2-1) took an 8-0 lead with 4:47 to play in the opening quarter and led for the rest of the game. The Ducks got on the board with a 13-yard run from quarterback Marcus Mariota, who accounted for four total touchdowns on Saturday – two in the air and two on the ground.
Mariota finished the game having completed 17 of 27 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The Ducks' quarterback netted 75 rushing yards on seven attempts, including a pair of rushing touchdowns.
UCLA's 20-yard field goal at the 12:04 mark in the second quarter reduced Oregon's lead to 8-3. The Ducks answered with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Mariota no less than three minutes later, pushing their advantage to 15-3.
Trailing 21-3 with 16 seconds to play before halftime, UCLA trimmed Oregon's margin to 21-10. Hundley scampered 16 yards for the touchdown, marking his third rushing touchdown of the season.
Hundley finished the game having completed 19 of 29 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, the Bruins' quarterback netted 85 yards on 20 carries.
Oregon opened the third quarter by scoring the game's next 21 points, securing a 42-10 cushion. The Ducks had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the third quarter – Mariota at 9:06 and Royce Freeman at 7:59 – before Freeman found the end zone again on a two-yard run in the first minute of the fourth quarter.
UCLA added a trio of fourth-quarter touchdowns (missed the two-point conversion attempt on the last two scores), cutting Oregon's advantage to 42-30. With 9:46 to play in the quarter, Hundley found Jordan Payton for a five-yard touchdown pass. With 4:21 remaining, running back Nate Starks carried the ball nine yards for a touchdown.
The Bruins recovered an onside kick after Starks' nine-yard touchdown run and moved the ball 55 yards in four plays to close the gap to 42-30. UCLA's final touchdown of the day came on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Hundley to Payton.
UCLA will return to action at California on Saturday, Oct. 18. Game time in Berkeley, Calif., is slated for 12:30 p.m. The Bruins' game at California will be televised on ABC/ESPN2.
