LAS VEGAS - Senior Ally Carda tossed the second no-hitter of her career and the 106th in UCLA history on Sunday against Boise State, tying a career high with 11 strikeouts, as the 10th-ranked Bruins posted a 6-0 victory at the Wilson/DeMarini Desert Classic at Eller Media Stadium.

Carda (5-1) faced just one over the minimum, walking two. She struck out the side in the first and sixth innings, a pair in the third and one in the second, fifth and seventh. Carda, who threw her first no-hitter last Feb. 6 against Delaware, is the 20th UCLA pitcher to record multiple no-no's in her career. The third straight season the Bruins have tossed one, Carda is the first UCLA hurler to toss a seven-inning no-hitter since 2005 (Anjelica Selden).

The Broncos (4-6) had only one runner get to second and the closest they got to a hit was in the fourth. One batter after Boise State recorded its only fly ball to the outfield, Sara Ketelsleger hit a flare pop to the second base bag. Senior Gracie Goulder ranged up the middle and threw to first to nab the runner and keep Boise State out of the hit column.

The Bruins (9-2) close out the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record, outscoring their opponents 54-11. UCLA had 12 hits, with junior Allexis Bennett going 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and sophomore Gabrielle Maurice and freshmen Maddy Jelenicki and Kylee Perez all recording a pair of hits.

UCLA got on the board in the second. Junior Mysha Sataraka led off with a walk and was pinch-run for by senior Tara Mueller, who moved to second on a sacrifice by senior Stephany LaRosa and scored on a double to right by Perez. After a bunt single by Goulder moved Perez to third, Bennett singled home Perez with the Bruins' second run.

In the third, two more runs came in for UCLA. Sophomore Delaney Spaulding doubled to right to open the frame and came home on a Maurice double down the first-base line to make it 3-0. Junior Brittany Moeai followed with a single up the middle to bring in Maurice with UCLA's fourth tally.

The Bruins tacked on a run in the fourth. Bennett led off with a single through the 5-6 hole, stole second and scored two batters later when an error by Shaelee Pearson at shortstop with Maurice at the plate extended the advantage to 5-0.

In the fifth, LaRosa led off with a walk and was pinch-run for by sophomore Robyn Corruth, who moved to second on a Perez sacrifice and scored one out later on a triple to center by Bennett to make it 6-0.

The Bruins head to another desert next week, this time in California, for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City. UCLA plays six times in four days, starting Thursday, Feb. 19 against Indiana (5:30 p.m.) and Texas (8 p.m.). On Friday, Feb. 20, the Bruins will take on Missouri (5:30 p.m.) before two more games on Saturday, Feb. 21 versus Ohio State (12:30 p.m.) and Florida State (3 p.m.). The tournament concludes on Sunday, Feb. 22 against Nebraska (11 a.m.).
