
Golfers Advance to NCAA Championships

In the final round, the third-seeded Bruins posted a team score of 287 (-1) – their best score of the tournament – and finished 54 holes in fourth place at 869 (+5), two strokes above the cut line. Top-seeded Illinois and SMU tied for first at 4-under par 860, followed by third-place UNLV at 863 (+1). Second-seeded Oregon earned the final spot, placing fifth at 871 (+7).
Chan climbed 25 spots up the leader board after firing a final round, 4-under par 68 on Saturday. His card featured six birdies and a double bogey; he played the outward nine in 4-under par. He tied for 29th at 223 (+7). Three players posted 1-over par scores of 73: juniors Jonathan Garrick and Jake Knapp and senior Manav Shah. Garrick tied for third place at 6-under 210, Knapp tied for 21st at 4-over 220 and Shah, climbed six spots to tie for 43rd at 10-over 226. Senior Matt Pinizzotto tied for 48th place at 228 (+12) after posting the drop score of 79 (+7).
Brian Campbell of Illinois finished first at 206 (-10), following a final round score of 65 (-7).
The Bruins will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, May 29-June 3, at Concession GC in Bradenton, FL.
