
Bruin XC to Compete at Stanford, Master's Invites This Weekend

The UCLA cross country team will split its team to participate in a pair of meets on Saturday, with one group staying local for the Master's University XC Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif. and another contingent heading north for the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Bruins' first races of the day come at Central Park in Santa Clarita, starting with the men's 8K at 7:45 a.m. and followed shortly thereafter by the women's 5K at 8:30. At Stanford, the women will race in a 6K course starting at 9:50 a.m., and the men will tackle the 8K course at 10:30 a.m.
The men's contingent at Stanford will include freshman Artin Allahverdian, redshirt sophomore Carter Blunt, redshirt junior Colin Burke, redshirt sophomore Andy Ehrenberg, redshirt junior George Gleason, freshman Munir Kabbara, redshirt sophomore Chris Morzenti, junior Garrett Reynolds, redshirt senior Cole Smith, and redshirt junior Millen Trujillo. Redshirt sophomore Tyler Janes, redshirt sophomore Riley Kelly, sophomore DJ Lawson, and redshirt junior Arturo Sotomayor will race in Santa Clarita.
On the women's side, sophomore Erika Adler, freshman Alyssa Bautista, redshirt sophomore Kelly Bernd, junior Cassandra Durgy, redshirt junior Jackie Garner, junior Claire Markey, sophomore Christina Rice, redshirt sophomore Lilly Schmidt, freshman Sophie Scott, and senior Taylor Taite will compete at Stanford. Bruin women set to race in Santa Clarita include sophomore Paige Carter, freshman Gwyneth George, sophomore Jacquelyn Hill, sophomore Kira Loren, redshirt sophomore Grace McAuley, redshirt freshman Kennedy Meyer, redshirt junior Madison Moore, sophomore Marisa Villegas, and freshman Annabelle Werner.
The UCLA men enter the meet ranked No. 20 nationally and No. 6 in the west region. The Bruins are coming off a first place finish at the Fresno State Invitational on Sept. 1. At that meet, UCLA placed four of the top-five runners in the 4-mile course, including first overall finisher Morzenti (20:31.90).
Kabarra (20:34.70, second), Allahverdian (20:46.60, fourth), and Ehrenberg (20:48.00, fifth) rounded out the Bruins' top-five finishers at the season-opening meet.
The Bruin women meanwhile placed second at the Fresno Invitational, led by third-place individual finisher Schmidt, who ran the 5K course in 18:28.30. A quartet of UCLA runners finished in succession, starting with Scott (18:49.90, ninth) and followed by Bautista (18:53.70, 10th), Carter (18:55.70, 11th), and Werner (19:00.90, 12th). All six of the competing UCLA women finished inside the top-20.
