LONG BEACH, Calif. - Sophomore Briana Perez had career highs in hits and RBI in Sunday's first victory, a 12-0 win over Boston U., while sophomore Malia Quarles produced the go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning to send the second-ranked Bruins to a 5-3 triumph against Long Beach State in the nightcap.

In game one against the Terriers (11-7), Perez had four of the Bruins' season-high 17 hits, adding five runs batted in to set new personal bests. Ten different players had hits, as redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan, sophomore Kinsley Washington and freshmen Kelli Godin and Anna Vines all posted two-hit contests.

In the circle, freshman Megan Faraimo struck out four in a complete-game, five-hit shutout, giving up one walk. She had two strikeouts in the first and posted 1-2-3 innings in the second, fifth and seventh.

The Bruins (21-1) got the scoring started on the first at-bat of the game, as sophomore Briana Perez hit a home run over the fair pole in right field, her second shot of the season. Junior Bubba Nickles followed with a single to left, moved to third on a double to left-center off the bat of Jordan and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Brianna Tautalafua to make it 2-0.

In the fourth, UCLA added three more. Freshman Colleen Sullivan led off with a single, and was pinch-run for by senior Danae Blodgett, who moved to second when Washington was hit by a pitch and to third when Godin reached base on a fielder's choice after Washington was forced at second. After Godin stole second, both Blodgett and Godin scored on a single up the middle by Perez to up the lead to 4-0. Jordan would make it 5-0 on an RBI double to center to plate Perez.

In the sixth, Washington led off with a single, moved to second on a Godin bunt single, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Nickles to make it 6-0.

UCLA broke it open with six in the seventh. Quarles led off with a pinch-hit single, and was pinch-run for by sophomore Julie Rodriguez, who moved to second on a Vines single and to third on a walk to Sullivan. A Washington single to left brought in Rodriguez with the Bruins' seventh run, while a Godin walk forced home Vines to make it 8-0. Perez followed with a single up the middle to score Sullivan and Washington, and when the relay throw got away, Godin came all the way around to increase the lead to 11-0. Two outs later, junior Jacqui Prober singled up the middle to bring home Perez to make it 12-0.

In game two against the 49ers (8-14), redshirt junior Rachel Garcia tossed five innings of shutout relief, striking out seven and giving up only two hits. She had two strikeouts in the fifth and seventh and 1-2-3 frames in the fifth, sixth and eighth. Sophomore Holly Azevedo started and pitched three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) and three hits. At the plate, the Bruins had six hits from six different players.

Long Beach State produced a three-run homer in its first at-bat, but the Bruins (22-1) rallied back to tie things up with one in the second and two in the third. Senior Taylor Pack put UCLA on the board with a solo home run to lead off the second, her fourth of the season. In the third, Godin led off with a walk and moved to second on a Perez sacrifice. After Nickles was hit by a pitch, Jordan doubled down the right-field line to bring in both runners to even the score at three.

The score remained tied heading into extra innings. With Jordan starting the eighth inning at second base, as the international tiebreaker was in effect, Garcia reached on an infield single, was pinch-run for by Vines, and both runners moved up on a sacrifice by senior Zoe Shaw. That brought up Quarles, who added another pinch hit, this time a double down the left-field line to score Jordan and Vines to put the Bruins ahead 5-3.

The Bruins start Pac-12 Conference play next weekend at No. 6 Washington. The series begins on Friday at 7 p.m.
