LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA track & field program will celebrate its 17th Annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational on Saturday, April 13 at Drake Stadium. The one-day, action-packed meet will kick off at 8:30 a.m. (PT) with the men's javelin and conclude at 4:50 p.m. with the women's 4x400m relay.

Special Ceremonies
At approximately 1:48 p.m. (PT), the Bruins will honor both Rafer Johnson and Jackie Joyner-Kersee, a pair of track & field legends who left their marks on UCLA in a timeless fashion. UCLA's senior recognition will take place at approximately 4:35 p.m.

The Bruins hosted its first home meet of the 2019 campaign on March 29-30 - the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Invitational. In total, UCLA notched 17 event wins. At the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, UCLA secured first-place finishes in the women's 1500m (Sophie Scott; 4:35.40), men's one-mile run (Arturo Sotomayor; 4:03.07), women's 10K (Christina Rice; 34:25.25) and men's 10K (Robert Brandt; 28:55.27). In the Jim Bush Legends Invitational, Alyssa Wilson kicked off the meet in style, taking first place in the hammer with a mark of 67.67m (222-0). Other first-place finishes included the men's shot put (Dotun Ogundeji; 64-6.75), men's discus (Dotun Ogundeji; 180-2), women's shot put (Alyssa Wilson and Ashlie Blake; 55-2.75), women's discus (Alyssa Wilson; 180-7), men's javelin (Simon Litzell; 213-7), women's javelin (Ilaria Casarotto; 151-9), men's pole vault (Tate Curran; 16-10.75), men's high jump (Sean Lee; 6-11.5), men's long jump (Harrison Schrage; 24-3.75), men's 800m (Arturo Sotomayor; 1:51.68), women's 200m (Suzie Acolatse; 24.08) and men's 4x400m relay (3:09.53), which included the quartet of Damion Marshall, Joe Herrera, Leon Powell and Cameron Stone.

Bruins in the Polls
In the latest USTFCCCA rankings, the Bruin men collected 82.93 points to earn a spot at No. 25. The women remained idle in the poll at No. 22 overall with 84.88 points. The UCLA men rank second in the West region, while the women are 10th overall.

Hard Work in the Classroom
The UCLA track & field program garnered 17 All-Academic MPSF Scholar-Athletes for the 2019 men's and women's indoor seasons. The honorees included Kelly Bernd, Paige Carter, Christina Chenault, Jackie Garner, Elleyse Garrett, Jacquelyn Hill, Melissa Maneatis, Schuyler Moore, Christina Rice, Robert Brandt, Colin Burke, Matthew DeRoos, Riley Kelly, Chris Morzenti, Leon Powell, Millen Trujillo and Jacob Wilson. To achieve the honor, the students had to notch a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, be a sophomore academically, completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season and competed in 50 percent or more of the institution's competition.

UCLA will split its squad for three separate meets - the Brian Clay Multis (April 17-18), Beach Invitational (April 18-20) and Mt. Sac Relays (April 18-20).
