Justin Stafford (hammer) and Christina Rice (5,000m) made leaps in UCLA's top-10 record books, and the UCLA track & field program capped day two of both the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays on Friday evening.

In Long Beach, Calif., Stafford started UCLA strong in the hammer throw, posting a PR of 68.57m (225-0) to move to No. 3 all-time in program history. Later that day at the Mt. SAC Relays, Rice completed the 5,000m run in 16:19.00 โ the seventh-fastest time in program history.

Beach Invitational
It was another fine outing for Alyssa Wilson, who won the hammer for the fourth time this outdoor season, logging a heave of 68.56m (224-11).

Simon Litzell led the way in the javelin, finishing eighth with a throw of 68.33m (224-2), while AK Turner found a spot at 18th overall (64.45m). On the women's side, Ilaria Casarotto (43.69m) and Lauren McFall (41.29m) took 23rd and 36th, respectively.

Mt. SAC Relays
The track events at Friday's Mt. SAC Relays watched Jacquelyn Hill PR in the 800m run, as she crossed the line with a time of 2:10.42 to earn sixth.

Robert Brandt improved his No. 3 UCLA ranking in the 5,000m run, posting a PR of 13:36.18 to take sixth place, while Colin Burke also clocked a career-best time, completing the race in 13:36.18 to finish 18th.

In the pit, Matthew DeRoos placed third in the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 7.24m (23-9).

DJ Lawson, a freshman, raced his first collegiate 1,500m run and clocked a time of 3:50.58 to place fifth, and Millen Trujillo (3:52.90) and Andy Ehrenberg (3:52.93) went 10-11, respectively.

In the 3,000m steeple, Claire Markey bested her career-best time and seventh-fastest mark in program history, taking 16th at 10:38.39.

Lilly Schmidt and Kira Loren went 5-6 in the 1,500m run, recording times of 4:35.88 and 4:37.26, respectively. That marked a collegiate-best time for Schmidt.

Cameron Stone took eighth out of 54 competitors in the 400m, clocking a time of 47.08, while Dakota Stanly (56.69) placed 24th for the women.

Newcomer Seth Holloway finished the 200m dash in 21.59 to clock 11th place.ย
