
Bruin Cross Country Caps Successful Weekend

Robert Brandt finished second at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, and the UCLA cross country program earned top-10 team finishes on Saturday in Springfield, Ore., and at The Master's University XC Invite in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Brandt made his 2019 XC debut in style, clocking an 8K time of 23:26.4, notching a collegiate-best time and helping the men to a third-place finish. Christina Rice was the bright spot for the women, clocking a 6K time of 20:05.7 to notch 10th.
At The Master's University XC Invite, Andy Ehrenberg (24:53.6) and Darius Riley (24:55.3) went 2-3, propelling the team to finish third, while Claire Selleck led the women with 13th place (18:20.3) to assist in a fourth-place team finish.

Men (3rd), Women (9th)
Led by Brandt's second-place finish, the UCLA men placed third, tallying an average time of 23:46. Garrett Reynolds came in fifth with a time of 23:35.3, while Colin Burke placed seventh at 23:38.5. The Bruins were the only team with at least three runners in the top 10.
Rice's 10th-place finish highlighted the performance by the Bruin women. Lilly Schmidt also earned a top-50 finish, placing 48th (20:53.3).

The Master's University XC Invitational
Men (3rd), Women (4th)
The UCLA men placed third with an average time of 25:32.6, while the women recorded a time of 18:45.3 to register fourth.
After the 2-3 finish of Ehrenberg and Riley, the Bruins were paced by DJ Lawson's 11th-place finish, as he clocked a time of 25:17.7.
The UCLA women saw Selleck place in the top 20, while Annabelle Werner (18:46.1) and Grace McAuley (18:46.8) placed 28th and 30th, respectively.

UCLA will compete in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (Madison, Wis.) on Friday, Oct. 18, followed by the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational (Sunnyvale, Calif.) on Saturday, Oct. 19.
