UCLA Wraps Mt. SAC Relays

LOS ANGELES – UCLA Track and Field completed its two-day appearance at the 63rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, taking part in 29 collegiate events and six elite invitational events throughout the weekend.
UCLA had notable performances in the men's 400m dash events, placing three Bruins in the top 10 in the elite event while taking home the number one spot on the collegiate side. The Bruin throwers, hurdlers, and vaulters were also out in full force.
Track Events
Antonie Nortje placed first in the men's 400m dash collegiate event, running a 46.11 to capture the top spot at the Relays. Ismail Turner (45.13), Willington Wright (45.34) and Myles Misener-Daley (45.91) competed in the invitational elite section of the 400m race to finish second, fourth and ninth, respectively.
Nortje also placed seventh in a field of 53 competitors in the men's 200m dash, running a 21.16 in the collegiate event. Misener-Daley (20.76) ran in the invitational elite section of the 200m race.
Naomi Johnson finished an impressive 400m dash in the collegiate event, winning her heat with a 52.86 – a new personal best for the Bruin and an eight-place finish in the race. Johnson (23.99), Aly Conyers (24.28) and Maddy Doane (24.39) placed in the top 20 of the women's 200m collegiate race, which saw 57 competitors. Johnson placed 11th overall.
Yan Vazquez had an impressive performance in the men's 400m hurdles collegiate race, running a 52.09 for third place in the event that saw 31 hurdlers. Sonia Virk won her heat on the women's side in the 400m hurdles collegiate event, running a 1:01.64.
Jadyn Marshall (14.28), Liam Anderson (14.42) and Aiden Lieb (14.71) all competed in the same heat of the men's 110m hurdles collegiate event. Jada Jones (13.81) finished 12th in the women's 100m hurdles out of 48 collegiate competitors.
John Robinson IV and Kaden Reynolds both ran 10.76 in the men's 100m dash collegiate event, and Kelley Stephens trailed right behind with a 10.86 finish.
Field Events
Anoop Khatra got things started for the Bruins Friday morning in the men's javelin throw, launching for a mark of 63.92m (209-08.00) for fifth place in the event. Aidan Elbettar (16.31m, 53-06.25) and Michael Pinckney (15.64m, 51-03.75) threw well for the Bruins in the shot put competition.
Natalie Ramirez had an impressive showing in the women's shot put and discus competitions, throwing for 15.24m (50-00) and 53.24m (174-08) at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Ramirez placed fourth in the discus, and Lyvante Su'emai (52.51m, 172-03) landed in seventh place in the event.
Lydia Liu won the Collegiate B section of the discus, throwing for 50.41m (165-05).
Elbettar and Pinckney competed later Friday evening in the men's discus throw and both placed in the top five of the event. Elbettar threw 55.74m (182-10) and Pinckney recorded a 55.40m (181-09) throw for second and fourth in the event. Gabriel Katches also placed sixth in the event, launching the discus 53.59m (175-10) in his best attempt.
Mayyi Mahama threw for 62.92m (206-05) in the elite invitational hammer throw competition, facing some of the nation's best hammer throwers in the event.
Jalyn Jackson had a top-three finish in the triple jump competition, finishing with a mark of 15.59m (51-01.75) for third place in the collegiate division. Aaron Kim put up an impressive performance in the men's high jump collegiate event, clearing 2.05m (6-08.75) for fifth in the event.
The women vaulters of UCLA had strong showings across the board, placing in the top three in the sections B, C and D of the collegiate event. Mia Cervantes cleared 3.75m (12-03.50) for third place in the first pole vault section of the day, the Collegiate C event. Katerina Adamiec placed sixth in the same section with her 3.60m (11-09.75) mark.
Ka'Leila Abrille cleared 3.95m (12-11.50) for third place in section B, and Samantha Serex (3.80m, 12-05.50) took home first place in section D for the Bruins. Eden Henderson recorded a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75) for fourth place in Serex's section.
