Bruins' Rowers Sweep Races Versus Loyola Marymount

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing team swept three races against Loyola Marymount on Ballona Creek on Saturday afternoon in the Bruins' only home racing event of the spring season.
UCLA's top two varsity eight crews and the Bruins' varsity four boat won mid-day races against LMU. In addition, the Bruins raced one additional varsity eight and one varsity four crew in an exhibition race.
The Bruins' varsity eight crew posted a final time of 7:13.70, crossing the finish line well ahead of Loyola Marymount (7:40.90).
UCLA's second varsity eight and third varsity eight posted times of 7:20.20 and 7:37.10, respectively. The Bruins' two boats finished ahead of Loyola Marymount (7:46.30).
UCLA's varsity four finished its race in 8:26.70, more than 44 seconds ahead of the V4+ crew from LMU (9:11.70).
In addition, the Bruins opened Saturday's races with two crews in an exhibition format. UCLA raced its novice eight crew (8:24.90) and the team's second varsity four boat (9:16.60).
Following Saturday's races, the Bruins' program honored their senior student-athletes outside the team's boathouse.
UCLA will return to action at the Dexter Lake Invitational in Lowell, Ore., next Saturday (April 20). The Bruins' final races of the regular season will take place in three weeks, at the Pac-12 Championships on Sunday, May 14. The Pac-12 competition will also take place at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore.
