SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 135th edition of the crosstown rivalry, with UCLA holding a narrow 69-65 advantage in the all-time series. The Trojans have won five of the last six, including the matchup earlier this season (Oct. 13) when they prevailed in a five-set thriller at the Galen Center. UCLA holds a 58-19 advantage over Oregon in the all-time series. The Ducks have won four straight matches, with the Bruins' last victory coming in Oct. 2021.

LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Grayce Olson recorded a career-high 20 kills as UCLA fell to No. 3 Penn State in a five-set battle on Thursday night. The Bruins found themselves on the wrong end of a five-set decision for the fifth time this season, falling to 1-5 in matches that enter the fifth frame. UCLA earned its first home sweep of the 2024 season with its straight-set victory over Michigan State, posting its best hitting percentage (.353) during Big Ten play.

OUTSTANDING OLSON
Against No. 3 Penn State, Grayce Olson highlighted UCLA's attack with a personal-best 20 kills and a hitting percentage of .279. The junior finished one dig shy of a double-double with nine on the night. Her brilliance continued in the three-game sweep over Michigan State, recording her second career double-double with a match-high 14 kills and career-best 13 digs. This was Olson's second-most efficient attacking display, hitting .542 for the match.

A NIGHT FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Cheridyn Leverette enjoyed the best night of her career against No. 10 Purdue, racking up a stunning 29 kills on 50 attempts, good for a hitting percentage of .480. She tallied 29 total points, also a career-best for the junior, while ascending into double-digits for the 15th consecutive match. Leverette's performance marks the highest kill tally by a Bruin since Mac May's 39-kill showing at Washington State on Oct. 3, 2021.

COMING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH
UCLA has reached the halfway point of the conference schedule. The Bruins are 4-6 in Big Ten play, which places them at 11th in the conference standings. UCLA will play five of its last 10 matches inside Pauley Pavilion as it looks to accumulate some important resumé-building wins in the closing stages of the season. The last half of the conference slate includes four matchups against ranked opponents: No. 16 USC, No. 11 Oregon (twice), and No. 9 Wisconsin. Three of those four matches will take place inside Pauley Pavilion.

UCLA OFFICIALLY JOINS THE BIG TEN CONFERENCE
UCLA officially joined the Big Ten Conference Aug. 2, ushering in a new era in the Bruins' storied and illustrious athletic tradition. UCLA, along with previous conference foes Oregon, USC and Washington, have moved to an 18-team Big Ten Conference with a footprint spanning from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
UCLA's approaching membership in the Big Ten Conference was initially announced more than two years ago, on June 30, 2022.

"The day has finally come," said Martin Jarmond, The Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics. "After two years of planning and preparation, UCLA is proud and excited to join the Big Ten Conference. I am grateful for the energy and effort that has been put into shaping this pivotal move by our hard-working staff members, as well as our coaches and student-athletes. The investments we have made into our programs and student-athletes over the past 24 months have set us up to continue to compete at the elite level that defines UCLA Athletics."

The Bruins' first home Big Ten Conference match will take place Sunday, Sept. 29 versus Ohio State in legendary Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom at 3 p.m. (PT). The contest will be available for viewing on B1G+.

UCLA PICKED EIGHTH
UCLA was picked to finish eighth out of 18 teams in its first-ever Big Ten Volleyball Preseason Poll, it was announced by the conference office Aug. 1. The Bruins were slotted to finish behind fellow conference newcomers Oregon (6th) and USC (7th). UCLA is coming off a sixth-place finish in the Pac-12 a year ago after a second straight season with a 10-10 conference record. In its history, UCLA has won 10 conference crowns with seven coming as a member of the Pac-12 Conference, two as a member of the Western Collegiate Athletic Association (WCAA) and one as a member of the Southern California Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCWIAC). The Bruins' last conference championship was in 1999 when they posted a 17-1 record.
