No. 10 UCLA Drops Midweek Contest to No. 6 Oregon State, 7-1

LOS ANGELES -ย The No. 10-ranked UCLA baseball team dropped a midweek contest to No. 6 Oregon State, 7-1, on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

UCLA (28-8, 12-3 Big Ten) mustered just four hits on the evening, with just one coming after the third inning. Oregon State (27-7) used a five-run fourth inning to build a six-run advantage, then both teams went scoreless for the remainder of the contest.

Dean West extended his hitting streak to 12 games, reaching base twice and scoring UCLA's lone run of the ballgame.

Mulivai Levu registered his 50thย RBI of the season in his 1-for-4 performance while Roman Martin and Grant Gray each recorded a hit on the night.

Five Bruins' bullpen hung five consecutive zeroes to complete the game. James Hepp headlined the effort by striking out two batters in his first outing since the 2023 season, impressing in his return from injury.

UCLA responded in the bottom of the third inning when Dean West notched the team's first hit of the game to set the table. West advanced to second on a wild pitch and then to third on Roch Cholowsky's fly out. He then dashed home on Levu's infield single to cut the lead in half. This marked Levu's 50th RBI of the season.

McEntire did more damage in the fourth when he launched a two-run home run off the foul pole to extend the Beavers' advantage to three. Oregon State continued to pour it on, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to push four more runs across in the frame.
