
Cholowsky Receives Second Team All-America Honors from NCBWA

LOS ANGELES - UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky has earnedย Second Team All-Americaย honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), adding another accolade to his standout season. He also received First Team All-America recognition from Perfect Game.
Cholowskyย becomes the first UCLA non-freshman position player to be named an All-American since JT Schwatz in 2021.
Cholowsky made history in UCLA's first Big Ten season, becoming the program's first player to win both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, as well as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
A Perfect Game Freshman All-American in 2024, Cholowsky has helped guide UCLA to its first College World Series appearance since 2013.
At 47-16, this season marks UCLA's highest win total since the 2019 team finished 52-11. Cholowsky led all Division I players in wins-above-replacement (WAR) with a 6.46 mark, while hitting .367 with 23 home runs and 73 RBI. He topped the Big Ten in OPS (1.261) and slugging percentage (.761) and ranked third in on-base percentage (.500), total bases (175), and runs scored (78). His 23 home runs are the most by a Bruin since 2000.
Cholowsky and UCLA will open itsย College World Series run against Murray State on Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. PT (1 p.m. CT), with the game airing on ESPN.
