Cholowsky Earns ABCA First Team All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES โ UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky continues to add to his impressive list of accolades, earning First Team All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Cholowsky's latest recognition cements his place among the nation's elite players, as he had already received First Team All-America honors from Perfect Game and Second Team All-America recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). He becomes the first UCLA position player to be named a First Team All-American since Jeff Gelalich in 2012.
The standout shortstop has etched his name in UCLA history, becoming the first non-freshman position player to be named an All-American since JT Schwartz in 2021. Cholowsky played a pivotal role in UCLA's debut season in the Big Ten, making history as the first Bruin to win bothย Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
Cholowsky made history by becoming the first sophomore and first UCLA player to win the Brooks Wallace Award, which recognizes the nation's top shortstop.
His stellar performance also earned him a finalist spot for the Dick Howser Trophy, along with semifinalist status for the Golden Spikes Award.
A Perfect Game Freshman All-American in 2024, Cholowsky has been instrumental in leading UCLA to its first College World Series appearance since 2013. The Bruins boast aย 47-16 record, their highest win total since the 2019 squad finished 52-11.
Cholowsky was a force at the plate, leadingย all Division I players in wins-above-replacement (WAR)ย with a 6.46 mark. He hitย .367 with 23 home runs and 73 RBI, topping the Big Ten inย OPS (1.261) and slugging percentage (.761). He also ranked among the league's leaders in on-base percentage (.500), total bases (175), and runs scored (78). His 23 home runs mark the highest by a UCLA player since 2000.
The Bruins open their College World Series run againstย Murray Stateย onย Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. PT (1 p.m. CT), with the game airing onย ESPN.
